Of course, domes can save up to fifty percent when on standard (on the grid) electrical and gas hookups, too. This saves you lots of money for years to come! All our domes, over twenty-four feet, are 2x6 construction for the shell, so you have better insulation for even more savings on heating and cooling, in all types of climates.

Geodesic domes have been proven to withstand bad weather the world over better than the standard box type construction, including snow loads, tornadoes and hurricanes, making them a safe and secure place to live. After all, can you think of anything stronger than interlocking triangles?

3. EASY TO ASSEMBLE

The Albata Geodesic dome is ideal for the experienced "do-it-yourselfer". Only basic carpentry skills are required to assemble the basic kit. Everything is precision cut and color coded for ease of assembly, and comes with complete blueprints and instructions. Only regular carpentry tools are needed, (we furnish a list of what you will need) and our complete instructions make it a very rewarding and enjoyable experience. We do all the hard stuff, so you reap the benefits. Once the kit is assembled, everything else is standard construction. We also understand that not everyone will be able to assemble their own kit and are not experienced at carpentry. 4. ECOLOGICALLY FRIENDLY

The geodesic dome structure itself requires about forty percent less materials to enclose the same amount of space than the standard square box building. This saves natural resources and the energy used to produce the construction materials, as well as saving energy consumption after the home is finished. Again less energy used means more savings to you and is better for our environment.

5. SPACIOUS

Nothing can compare to the dome home for the feeling of openness and spaciousness inside. The design itself is very pleasing to the eye and harmonious to your way of life. Gone are the feelings of being "closed in" that can come from the standard square box, closed off structures that most people have had to contend with all their lives. Ceilings can sore to 28 feet or more in our larger domes. Balconies can overlook the downstairs rooms.

6. EXPANDABLE

The dome can be designed with literally hundreds of different floor plans to suit every need for you and your family. You can start with a small to medium sized dome and add others in a cluster arrangement as your family grows or your needs change. This can be done much easier than standard housing because you are not limited by or worrying about load bearing walls, roof trusses, and "marrying in" the addition so it does not look like an add on. The additional dome or domes can be added to any opening area you wish, with just a little forethought during the design phase. The domes can be done in stages and finished as your schedule permits. This allows you to be in charge of costs better than a room addition or remodel project.

7. ECONOMICAL

The Albata Domes are specifically designed to save you money from the start. Our exclusive ALBATA Connector Plate System is less costly to produce than most types of strut connectors for domes and this is how we can produce kits for far less. However, this does not mean that our kits are less complete or less strong than others are. It just saves you money. As a matter of fact, the Albata dome kit is one of the most complete kits on the market. All of our kits over 24 feet are 2x6 construction so you don't pay for upgrades. We also provide you with the nails, screws and glue you need to build your kit along with one-on-one help all the way to completion of your dome project. All of this is at no extra charge. We do not sell a lot of add-ons to your kit, such as extenders, door and window units, and special brackets. Our domes are designed to use standard window and door units, which can be found at your local home supply and hardware store. If you desire triangle windows, then most local glass companies can provide them at far less cost than we could provide them. Our goal is saving money for you.
